Shanalisa Keller, Canadian Finance Gal
As far back as I can remember, I have always wanted to be an accountant.
Growing up, I watched my mom support my dad’s construction company by “doing the books”; the love for small business started at this young age through their hardworking example.
While we were dating, my future husband, taught me the self discipline and beauty of budgeting. My penchant for money management was solidified. I completed my Certified General Accountant designation a year after my first son was born. Thus began my journey of figuring out how I was to balancing motherhood, my career in a Big 5 accounting firm, my household, and continuing to fall in love with my hubby.
Throughout my career I have worked in many areas of corporate office life; payroll and human resources, customer service, covering reception and warehouse duties to controller and tax advisor. I am obsessed with cash registers and adding machines; pressing the keys can be so satisfying!
Core Values
Learning is best in a judgement free zone
Financial management is “figure-out-able”; lots of effort & lots of questions
Learning and growing is a forever thing
To educate and lead is a privilege
We are divinely created with and for purpose
I have worked in many sectors; retail, fast food, nutritional supplements, private practice and public practice, information technology, and most recently, business coaching. Clients that I have supported as a controller (along with bookkeeping sometimes) are also in a range of industries; construction, real estate, gravel mining, steel fabrication, child education and holding companies.
Being entrepreneurial minded, I have started three of my own companies. I truly love accounting and finances; as I am often heard saying “numbers are my thing”
they can be yours too!
Outside of numbers; I am a people person; leading and serving as the need presents itself. (A classic 2 with a 3 wing for my enneagram readers). I am on the board or directors of a Not For Profit that seeks to end extreme poverty one community at a time. I have also served at my community church for over a decade; from kid’s church teacher to hostess. I also had the privilege of holding the role of Women’s Ministry leader. I have volunteered with my boys’ sport teams and have the distinct pleasure to join with Trinity Western University to be a mentor for female students pursuing an education in business.
I have been married to my wonderful husband, Cameron, for almost 25 years. We have two energetic young adult sons; Brackton and Caiden. Together we love to travel internationally discovering food, fashion, and traditions of other cultures. Oh, then there is gardening, paddleboarding, and reading to round out what makes me
